What to Expect
Before the Investigation
After you submit a request for an investigation, a PEIRS member will contact you by phone to conduct an interview regarding your paranormal experiences. You may look at our Client Questionnaire to get an idea of what questions we will be asking you. It is of the utmost importance that you answer our questions honestly and openly. We realize that some of the information you provide us is very personal and sensitive. This information will be kept strictly confidential and used by the members of PEIRS only to gain a better understanding of your case. In order to determine what may be occurring in your location, we need as much information from you as possible. After the initial phone consultation, we will analyze your case and determine if an investigation is necessary. If an investigation is not necessary, we will contact you to explain our decision. If we determine that an investigation is necessary, we will contact you to schedule one.
After your investigation is scheduled, a PEIRS member will contact you one week before and one day before to confirm. If you need to cancel or reschedule your investigation, please contact us at least 48 hours in advance. Investigations require substantial planning, time, and travel, so it is important to give advance notice of cancellation. If we are unable to contact you to confirm the investigation, we will assume that you do not wish to continue with the investigation and your case will be closed.
Tips for a Successful Investigation
There are several rules and suggestions to ensure a successful investigation:
- Absolutely NO drug or alcohol use during the investigation. We will leave immediately if we suspect that you or anyone involved in the investigation is under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- If we suspect that there is staging of paranormal events or find evidence of fraud, we will leave immediately.
- We need as quiet an environment as possible in order to collect usable evidence. Extra and unnecessary sounds can contaminate audio and video evidence. Therefore, we request that pets be confined to a closed room or garage. We also suggest that children not be present during an investigation. In addition to possible evidence contamination, paranormal phenomena can be frightening to a child. We also request that you not invite unnecessary people over during the investigation. The more people that are present, the more contaminated and unreliable evidence becomes. As our client, you are certainly welcome to stay for the investigation.
During the Investigation
When we arrive at your location, we will begin by having you sign our Consent to Investigate form, Confidentiality Agreement, and Terms of Service. Once the forms are completed, we will ask you to give us a tour of your location and explain your experiences. During this time, a team member will be taking baseline EMF (Electromagnetic field) and temperature readings to be compared to readings taken during the investigation. After the tour we will set up our equipment which may include, but is not limited to, static night vision and infrared cameras, digital recorders, motion detectors, laser grids, and trigger objects.
During the investigation, we will move throughout the location taking EMF and temperature readings, conducting EVP sessions, recording both with video and audio devices, and taking still photographs. We will also try to find logical explanations for any strange phenomena you may have experienced (locating creaking floorboards, locating loose pipes, abnormally high electromagnetic fields, etc). An investigation can last anywhere between 2-8 hours, depending on the activity, size of location, and your schedule.
After the Investigation
Once the investigation is complete, we will review and analyze our collected data (audio, video, photos). This will generally take one to three weeks to complete. Depending on how far your location is from us, we will either present our results to you in person or via email or phone. Every client will receive a case report that details what we did and what we found during the investigation. If we catch any evidence, we will provide you with a copy.
